Dr. Mark Linker is a senior scientist at Fermat Capital. Mark joined Fermat in 2013 and has over 30 years of earthquake research and catastrophe risk modeling experience. Prior to joining Fermat, Mark served as the founder and president of Risk Metric Partners, which provided evaluation of third-party catastrophe models for reinsurance companies as well as technical guidance to catastrophe-risk modeling companies. Before Risk Metrics, Mark was a senior research associate at AIR, where he led the design of the global master earthquake model and advised major re/insurance companies on catastrophe risks. Mark spent 14 years as a project chief and geophysicist with the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and was also a research assistant and teaching fellow at Harvard's Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences during six of those years. Mark received a Ph.D. in geophysics from Harvard University (1994), an M.S. in geophysics from Stanford University (1988) and a B.A. in earth sciences & physics from the University of California, Santa Cruz (1979).
