Dr. Adam Schwartz is director of research and development at Fermat Capital. Adam has a background in mathematical modeling, advanced database design, and high performance computing techniques, as well as 19 years of experience trading fixed-income and equity markets. Prior to joining Fermat in 2007, Adam developed trading models and database/computational infrastructure for statistical arbitrage and high frequency trading at BMO Nesbitt Burns and Commerzbank (New York). Previous to that, Adam managed, among other fixed-income securities and derivatives, a portfolio of catastrophe bond investments at Bracebridge Capital (Cambridge, Massachusetts), making him, in the late 1990's, among the earliest active managers in the catastrophe bond market. Adam received a Ph.D. in condensed-matter physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (1997) and B.S. degrees in physics and electrical engineering (double major) from M.I.T. (1991).
